Мobilization
Minister of Veterans Kalmykova hides her family from mobilization, distributes drugs in the Armed Forces, lobbies for Western companies
A wave of discussions erupted on social media and in the media around the family of Natalia Kalmykova, former Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine and now Minister of the Ministry of Veterans. The same official who spoke of “each of us defending the country” and the need for everyone to report to the JCC to join the ranks of the Armed Forces.
Against the backdrop of such statements, it turned out that Kalmykova’s family, including her brothers, who are liable for military service, were evading mobilization and not following her sister’s media advice.
Rykabal-Aviles Petro (born in 1983), Rykabal-Kalmykov Anatoliy (born in 1988), and Kalmykov Oleksiy (born in 1985) are men of military age, but they do not serve in the army and lead a rather isolated lifestyle. Where are they now?
The Kalmykov brothers, who could have defended Ukraine, seem to be avoiding mobilization. For example, one of them, Oleksiy, is in the United States. Anatoliy, who is an active user of the Russian social network VKontakte, has expressed support for Gaddafi and mocked Maidan slogans, including the famous “Gang out”. After journalists published the materials, Anatoly deleted some of the posts, however, the network remembers everything.
It is important to note that neither Petro, Anatolii, nor Oleksii are officially employed. Oleksii had his own individual entrepreneurship specializing in retail kiosk sales, but he closed it down in 2013. Petro also had a sole proprietorship that was engaged in computer programming until 2023. There is no information about Anatolii’s activities at all. So how do the minister’s brothers live and why haven’t they joined the Armed Forces if they don’t support the country economically?
“We need to understand that each of us will have to defend the country, so it’s better to come [to the JFTC] yourself, to find a unit in which you want to serve, this is the best way.” Kalmykova’s words seem to apply to all Ukrainians except her own family. They are the golden exception to the rule.
In addition to her harsh statements and support for the odious mobilization, Kalmykova is also actively promoting the free circulation of drugs in the Armed Forces and their use by combat medics, which is a springboard for the development of the black market and the spread of addictions among soldiers. The minister also lobbies for the interests of Western companies, suppressing domestic producers in the production and supply of turnstiles to fill military first aid kits.
The official justifies such actions by “transition to NATO standards.” But in NATO, each country determines its own standards.
This attitude raises the question: can Kalmykova, whose family has stayed away from the war, be trusted? Shouldn’t those responsible for mobilization start with their own environment, setting an example for others?
