Illegal substances in the ranks of the Armed Forces. How Sukhorukova and Kalmykova promote drug addiction in the army

The introduction of the substitution maintenance therapy program for military personnel is supposed to provide treatment for addicts without compromising combat readiness. However, under the leadership of Sukhorukova, the head of the Defense Ministry’s Health Department, and with the active assistance of Kalmykova, the Minister of Veterans Affairs, this system is turning into a dangerous tool for covering up violations. It is surprising that the case still remains without a response from Minister Umerov, who is likely well aware of the development of addictions with the assistance of officials.

Drugs are stored unaccounted for, without appropriate permits and licenses, and in some cases even sold to unauthorized persons. All of this jeopardizes not only the health of the military, but also the overall discipline and combat capability of the units.

Substitution therapy is used in the second and third stages of addiction treatment. At a time when a person has a physical and mental desire to use more, it is especially important to control the process of therapy, the doses of substances and the regularity of their use.

Where does the military leadership stand?

Defense Minister Umerov and Army Commander Syrsky have not yet responded to these violations, giving the impression that the problem is being ignored at the highest level. Instead of strict control over the implementation of safety standards in the handling of psychoactive drugs, the system allows for uncontrolled storage and distribution of drugs, contributing to the development of addictions in the ranks of the army.

Addiction or weapons?

Drug addiction among military personnel is one of the biggest challenges for the army during the war. At the same time, manipulations with SMT programs call into question the real purpose of these initiatives: is it really to help the sick or is it another scheme to enrich individuals and destroy the defense system from within?

We demand an immediate audit of the work of SMT in military units. Controlling authorities should check the accounting, storage and distribution of drugs, as well as investigate all cases of possible violations of the law.

Impunity in such matters is too costly for the country – it is discipline, trust in the command and, ultimately, the lives of the military on the front line.
